We are happy to announce that we have a new head swim coach for both the boys and girls swim team! Many of you are familiar with Kyle Thorsness, as he has been our assistant coach for the last couple of years.

Kyle is a CMHS alumni and he swam and played water polo for four years. He was an All League and All CIF athlete for both and he took part in one water polo league championship as well as four league championships in swimming. He placed 4th at CIF in both the 50 and 100 freestyle and their relay was 1st place in CIF. During that time he trained and competed for the Golden West Swim Club in addition to swimming at CMHS. He then moved on the Orange Coast College where he again swam and played water polo, helping OCC earn a Men’s Swimming State Championship in 2009. From there he attended the University of La Verne where he played water polo for two years. He was an All SCIAC athlete as well as an NCAA Division 3 All American his senior year. Kyle earned his degree in Movement and Sports Science at the University of La Verne. He served as the assistant to the CMHS boys and girls water polo programs as well as the swim team from 2012-2014 and is excited to return to coach swimming. His email address is if you would like to contact him with any questions or to welcome him back. We are looking forward to a great swim season!!
